How long does it usually take ?
This is always the one million dollar question.
It takes anywhere from 2 weeks to 2 months. The length of training time depends on the type of training we are doing and what issue the dog has coming in.
Following your evaluation, you will be given a "timetable" for training. The price you are quoted assumes no serious problems crop up. If problems come up, you will be contacted and a meeting will be arranged. At that point we will offer you several approaches to deal effectively with the issue. You will always be "in the loop" when it comes to your dogs training. There will never be any unpleasant surprises. During the course of training, your trainer will speak with you a minimum of once weekly to keep you aprised of our progress. Clients are always welcome to call at other times to check on their dogs, but we can't always assure that your trainer will be available.
What is training and boarding like?
Feeding: ProDOG feeds all resident dogs two meals daily. One meal consists of beefheart and a premium grade kibble solid food. The second meal is turkey necks. If you have a dietary requirement outside of this plan, you will be asked to provide the food for your dog while he/she is with us.
Daily Routine: The day at ProDOG begins at 6:00am. Dogs are moved from night kennels to larger day kennels. All kennels are cleaned and bleached out. All dogs are fed at 8:00am. Following the feeding, dogs are allowed free time in the day kennels to run and play. Formal training starts at 9:00am from Tuesday through Sunday. At the end of the day or at times when the weather is wet, dogs are moved back into night kennels (smaller covered enclosures with a Dogloo and blankets).
Health Care: ProDOG has vet care available 24 hours a day. All financial responsibility for health care is the clients obligation. We provide any and all emergency care as needed, but can not absorb the cost of care unless the cost is directly related to a lack of due diligence on our part (which will never happen). It is our policy to contact the client immediately if a health issue arises. If your dog has daily medication needs, we will administer the medication as prescribed.
Safety and Security: We are in the business of raising and training dogs with high drive potential. Our kennels are both secure and dog-safe. Each night kennel is built to simulate an outdoor den environment. Water is always full and fresh. The clients dog has not only a warm house with blankets, but the kennels are also tarped to keep the wind/sun off the dog. The day kennels are quarter acre habitats with natural obstacles and landscaping. Each day kennel is surrounded by an eight foot field fence or no climb wire fence with fir posts and top rails.
